Rooted in Mesa. Ready to Serve.
Ryan Blakeman is a lifelong Mesa resident, coach, nonprofit founder, and community leader who has spent more than 26 years serving District 5 families, students, and neighborhoods.
From growing up here to raising his own family here, Ryan believes Mesa works best when neighbors invest in each other — and he’s running for City Council to help our community thrive.
Meet Ryan
A Lifetime in District 5
Ryan Blakeman grew up in District 5, attended Mountain View High School, and chose to raise his family in the same community that helped shape him.
For decades, Ryan has been known simply as “Coach.” From Little League to Fremont Junior High and Red Mountain High School, he has spent 26 years mentoring young people, supporting families, and building community through sports.
His experience isn’t political — it’s personal.
Ryan has always believed that strong neighborhoods start with investing in people.
THE COACH STORY
Known as Coach
Ryan has coached more than 100 teams across Mesa — from Little League and AYSO to junior high and high school athletics.
Basketball.
Baseball.
Soccer.
Wrestling.
Football.
Coaching became more than a role — it became his identity. Former athletes still call him Coach today, and many remain close with him years later.
For nearly 20 years, Ryan has hosted an annual Thanksgiving Turkey Bowl that brings former players back together — some even traveling from out of town just to be there.
That’s the kind of community Ryan believes Mesa deserves.
